Schwing Schwing!
I was surfing the net, link-jumping from one to another, when I chanced upon this webshop named Schwing Schwing. Remember this Margiela skirt from Jak&Jil?:

This is Schwing Schwing's take on it:
Schwing Schwing's version does look good and at a mere fraction of the Margiela, it's a piece that's worth buying if you are looking for the look, but may not want to pay the price. The styling of its website really leans towards the "model-off-duty-A-Wang" look, but I found some pieces which I think are more my cup of tea. For example this black dress, which reminds me of a certain Canadian brand specializing in complex geometrical tees;) :
This black vest is filled with lots of random drape and tie potential:
The most awesome thing (to me anyway) is that this website is from Singapore, so there's a tad, ok tons of, national pride here! The prices are also really good (read: reborn student on a budget here!), think Forever 21-level but with a more interesting selection. They ship internationally I think, but I'll check out Schwing Schwing in further detail when I am back in Singapore..maybe I can save on the shipping costs?
And, totally random, but I suddenly have it in my mind to get a bear tee:
Also, I'll like to announce that this is my first blog post on my new Macbook Pro:
Yesssss... happy cows at the National Mall on my desk-top :)

Banal Chic Bizarre
Sometimes nothing's better than an accidental discovery.
I came across this Japanese label while surfing the web and instantly fell in love with their F/W 08 collection.
I'll pretty much wear every piece of separates in this collection. I'm especially loving the tailoring of their jackets and the slouchiness of some of their pants.
And how sweet is it that some of the pieces appear to be androgynous? Just look at the shoes featured in the looks below and the white jacket the male model on the extreme right in the third row is wearing. I'll love to get my hands on the leather jacket pictured in the second row, but it appears to be sold out from a cursory search via Google.
I think I'll let the pictures speak for themselves from here.
Another reason to polish up my Japanese. Another reason to revisit Japan!
P.S. Their S/S 09 lookbook is online as well with lots of fantastical marching band jackets, nylon vests and pants. But I'm still in the mood for autumnal wear ;)

The convertible skirt/dress
This convertible skirt/dress from Cool Change is well, cool.
Worn as a skirt:
Spotted on many celebs, I was nevertheless intrigued by it when I saw it at Playhouseclothing.com while I was surfing the web.
The beading looks exquisite and the dual purpose of this clothing makes it a worthwhile buy. However international shipping charges are expensive, I will probably hold this off till my next trip to SoCal, if it is still available. Another concern that I have is that this skirt/dress seems sheer, especially the white one. But out of all the colours, I am in love with the white one.
I have also spotted another gorgeous skirt/dress creation by Matthew Williamson:
It should be pretty easy to create this look as long as you have the correct type of skirt. A maxi skirt is probably the best bet, while shorter skirts can be belted to be worn as a top, tunic-style. Worn as a top, the skirt/dress should be accessorised with layers of necklaces/beads, maybe wooden bangles or cuffs and it can worn with a shrug or bolero.
